On a bit of a wild and windy night 13 intrepid riders massed in the layby at the bottom of Mill Hill. Only 11, OK 12, made it to the top with one rider suffering a puncture during his warm-up and a second (Giles Ruffer) punctured someway up the climb. Showing grit he did a bit of a Froomie and walked the rest of the climb (probably the best part of a mile). As he stoically trudged across the finish line he was asked if he wanted an official time, which he politely declined.
In the Open Jack Smith took the honours, but only just ahead of the young Jack Patten from PPYC with Laurence Rose in 3rd. In the Female Category Gaynor took the top step with Joanna 2nd.
By and large we avoided the rain, that was until we started to ride down, when we got a proper pasting.
Thanks to all that braved it tonight, and to Wendy and Tristan for timing and starting / pushing-off. And thanks to all that have turned out for the Tuesday night Hill Climbs and TT’s. Numbers are up a lot, which is great to see. Dates for the 2026 series will follow in due course, but for now please cast you eyes over the upcoming offerings of the remaining TT’s of the season and the upcoming Hill Climb Season. Plenty of Mitre Team prizes to defend so please do turn out and turn a pedal.. Here’s a list of everything on CTT within 30 miles of Brighton.
